Spring 2025 Newsletter
President’s Letter We have finally turned the corner on a long, brutal winter. Lakeside said “hello” to two new board members in 2024 (Sharon and Jane who graciously took officer positions as well), but we also said “goodbye” and thank you to our long-standing President and board member, Tom Davenport. You’ll still see Tom (and Judy) on Lakeside, except during the winter, and he will still be pitching in when he has time! With Tom “retiring”, I will do my best to fill his shoes.
The Association was certainly busy this past year. We offered more concerts, a mysterious white dinner and our annual Pumpkin Promenade. Halloween was full of spooky décor and we had a fruitful Farmers Market at the Beach. We had fun walking in the University’s Homecoming parade with the “boat float” and even had time to spruce up an over-grown corner post (pictured above). The weather didn’t cooperate for the tree lighting, but the beach was a beautiful site during the holiday. A dozen musicians strolled our streets one wintery night playing Christmas music and we decorated a “Lakeside Association” tree in the annual Festival of Trees in the Edinboro Mall.
We expect to offer even more fun for our community this year: more beach concerts, a Summer Kick Off Dance, our Annual July 4th events, plus more surprises are in store for Summer 2025. If you want to help or have ideas so that we can continue to make our community a better place, please reach out! ~ Kathy
Community Message Board Lakeside Association has fully utilized the message board located at the beach. A dedication to John Marchese was held Memorial Day weekend and very well attended by friends, family and neighbors. Local happenings, membership, brochures and forms will be updated frequently.
Dynamic Bike Share Edinboro Lakeside Association, through a shared effort with PennWest University, brought bikes to residents and summer visitors on Lakeside last summer. By simply downloading the “On Bike Share” App to your mobile device, bikes could be rented at three nearby docking locations: Crawford Beach, John’s Wildwood Pizzeria, and the Borough Building. Hourly and full-day rentals were available. If you missed the bikes last summer, look for them again in mid-June. We hope you and your family will take advantage of this fun, convenient, and affordable amenity!

Le Dîner en Blanc – Edinboro Style If you noticed a parade of folks dressed all in white the evening of September 8, 2024 and wondered what was going on. It was Le Dîner en Blanc. Le Dîner en Blanc (dinner in white), a worldwide event spanning six continents began in Paris in 1988 when François Pasquier invited a group of friends and friends of friends to an elegant picnic dinner. He asked them to dress in white in order to find each other. Since then, the event has grown to 85 cities. What better way to say goodbye to the summer with friends-old and new! A shout out to sponsors: DJ Nate Fralick, Edinboro Chocolaterie, Le Jardin and Lakeside volunteers making the event memorable. Looking forward to it again, so stay tuned.
Edinboro Lake Watershed Everyone is encouraged to view the Watershed’s updated informational sign posted at Crawford Beach boat ramp. It offers a great deal of current information including steps everyone, including boaters, can take to help protect our lake and watershed and a current bathymetric map of water depths in Edinboro Lake. QR codes provide links to more information about Edinboro’s watershed and educational videos via ELWA’s YouTube channel. The new sign was designed and produced by ELWA and, thanks to the Borough of Edinboro, installed July 2024. Additional signs are being considered for other locations on the lake frequented by residents and visitors.
ELWA will once again cover the dock fees for the kayak launches provided at the Crawford Beach and the south boat launches. Enjoy the lake and tread lightly.
Lakeside Farmer’s Market On October 5, we had 15 vendors selling fresh food, arts and crafts. We hope to do more in 2025!
